Frequently asked questions about Sunnybrook's Reactivation Care Centre site
Sunnybrook’s units in the Reactivation Care Centre (RCC) support patients to continue their care when they no longer require specialized acute hospital services. The centre is designed for patients who are waiting to move to another care facility in the community and will help continue the best care in the most appropriate setting for all of our patients.
About the centre
Is the centre part of Sunnybrook or Humber River Hospital?
Patients will continue to be cared for by Sunnybrook staff and will continue to be a patient at Sunnybrook. The building is maintained by Humber River Hospital and the units (A3N and A3S) are operated by Sunnybrook.
Which floors are Sunnybrook's units located on?
The new units are on the 3rd floor of the Reactivation Care Centre at 200 Church Street. The names are A3N and A3S. Take the elevator up to the third floor and there will be signs to point you in the right direction.
Why is this new Sunnybrook site opening?
Sunnybrook cares for some of the sickest and most critically ill patients in Ontario. We care for these patients usually with an occupancy rate of over 100 per cent each day. The Reactivation Care Centre was established in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to address occupancy challenges, including hallway medicine.
Will the level and quality of care I receive at the centre change?
No. All patients at the Reactivation Care Centre will be cared for by Sunnybrook staff, and your care plan will continue. There will be support to engage patients in meaningful activities through a recreation therapy team and you will enjoy activities of daily living, such as having meals in a dining room together.
What can I expect at the centre?
The Sunnybrook team will continue with your care plan. Your care team will include nurse practitioners, nurses, physicians, social workers and other health professionals who will work together with you and your family.
What items should I bring to the Reactivation Care Centre?
Here is a list of some items that will be helpful during your stay:
- Comfortable clothes, sleepwear and/or a housecoat
- A toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush or comb, shampoo, body wash, electric shaver, deodorant
- Non-skid shoes or slippers, and socks
- Glasses, hearing aids, dentures (and please label them with your name)
Please do not keep any valuables, such as money or jewelry, at the centre. Sunnybrook is not responsible for any lost or damaged personal belongings. Please note there is no locked storage for your valuables.

Will my co-payment continue?
The fee you have been paying will continue when you are relocated to the centre.
How do I pay a hospital bill?
You have several options:
- Online at mysunnybrook.ca
- Through online banking at CIBC, Scotiabank, National Bank of Canada, HSBC, TD, BMO, RBC, Simplii or Tangerine
- By mail: send a cheque or money order and the remittance part of your invoice to:

Directions, parking and transportation
Where is the centre located, and how do I get there?
The centre is located at 200 Church Street, close to Jane and the 401 (Humber River Hospital, Church site).
Taking TTC? The Toronto Transit Commission has several buses a short walk from the centre, including the 59 Maple Leaf and 35 Jane buses. The closest subway station is Lawrence West.
Parking at the centre
There is a large parking lot on-site at the Reactivation Care Centre. Parking rates at this site are $5 a day.
Services at the centre
What are the patient rooms like?
The Reactivation Care Centre is newly renovated, with single or two-patient rooms. Patient rooms have TV and telephone services (local calls only), free of charge.
What is the food like at the centre?
The food is prepared by Aramark, the same food services company at the rest of Sunnybrook.
Is there a restaurant or coffee shop?
There is a small café that will be opened on the first floor of the centre in the near future. We will keep you updated on timing for its opening.
Are there Spiritual Care services at the centre?
A room is located on the first floor. You may visit at any time with family and friends for prayer and meditation.
Is there WiFi available for patients and visitors?
WiFi is available for patients and visitors in the main lobby, free of charge. To access WiFi, connect to the HRH-GUEST network.
Is there a bank or ATM?
There is no bank or ATM at the centre.
