Introduction
What is coronary artery bypass surgery?
Coronary artery bypass — also known as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG, pronounced “cabbage”) — is a surgical procedure that improves the blood flow to the heart muscle if your coronary arteries are blocked or damaged. A surgeon uses blood vessels from another area of the body (usually your arm or leg) to repair the damaged arteries so that the heart can function properly. Depending on your condition, you may have multiple bypasses in one surgery.
