Soft Tissue Trauma Program

What is soft tissue trauma?

Soft tissue trauma is broadly defined as an injury to any of the non-bony supportive structures of the skeleton. These injuries, however, often also include bony trauma as the two are uniquely related.

Examples of soft tissue trauma include injuries of the:

  • tendons,
  • ligaments,
  • cartilage and
  • muscle.

About our program

Our program is made up of orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in soft tissue trauma with expertise ranging from non-operative to operative management of these injuries.

We specialize in soft tissue trauma ranging in complexity from simple to high-energy joint dislocations that may occur following:

  • sport participation,
  • car accidents and
  • workplace or other injuries.

We are an arm of the orthopaedic trauma program at Sunnybrook, with subspecialist orthopaedic surgeons who bring unique skills and abilities in the areas of soft tissue trauma and bony trauma.
