Spring Into Action 2016

This year’s Spring Into Action event for people living with type 2 diabetes featured our Registered Dietitians’ healthy dishes. Our dietitians presented the glycemic index, and how it can be used in a healthy diet for diabetes management. The presentation was followed by the dietitians’ dishes, where each of the three dietitians demonstrated a healthy recipe using a low glycemic index food. We featured Greek yogurt, apples, and white kidney beans. Try incorporating any of these healthy foods regularly.

Some examples we demonstrated:

The rest of the afternoon included interactive workshops, facilitated by the SUNDEC diabetes nurse educators and dietitians about:

  • Navigating Your Blood Sugars
  • Food Fallacies
  • Exercise
  • Medication Options
  • Real People, Real Questions

This annual event is a great time to update your knowledge of management of type 2 diabetes. To learn more about SUNDEC education events, or to speak with a Registered Dietitian or Nurse Diabetes Educator, call 416-480-4805.
