Over the next five years – 2015-2019 – we will

  • Lead in improving access to high quality patient and family-centred trauma care (mechanical and/or thermal injury)
  • Lead in collaborative research in the prevention and treatment of trauma
  • Lead in trauma education for trainees, staff and our partners
  • Lead in the prevention of trauma
  • Lead improvements in the system of trauma care with our partners
  • Lead in driving continuous quality improvement with accountability for our results

  • Stronger links between pre-hospital & hospital care
  • More timely & better integrated high quality acute trauma care
  • Innovative approaches to rehabilitation to restore function & improve patients' quality of life

  • A fully-integrated regional trauma system with our partners

Collaborative research in the prevention & treatment of trauma

  • Innovative trauma research to help prevent road traffic injuries, improve acute trauma care and trauma systems, and improve patients' recovery and quality of life

Trauma education for trainees, staff & our partners

  • Better-prepared trainees and staff using simulation & experiential learning
  • Educational opportunities to improve trauma care locally, regionally & beyond

Trauma prevention

  • Fewer injuries through education, research & advocacy
