Grant A Wish Program

Veterans Grant a Wish Program

Veterans wishesThis magical and exciting program is dedicated to fulfilling the specific desires of Veterans who live at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre.

The Program is a resident-focused initiative that strives to provide an enhanced quality of life through the realization of heartfelt wishes. It is the only "wish program" dedicated to Canada's war Veterans.

Developed by Recreation Therapy in celebration of 2005 Year of the Veteran, the Sunnybrook Veterans Grant a Wish Program is a resident centred initiative. We can never do enough to show our gratitude for all that the Veterans have done for us.

Each month wishes are collected by the coordinator and designated to be either a gem wish (10 per month are granted) or a pearl wish (1 per month). Wishes granted have been as unique as an elaborate family dinner at a hotel to a modest request for maple walnut ice cream for lunch every day for a month. Other wishes include: tickets to sporting events, wheelchair capes, best sellers in large print, or trips to various Canadian cities or a Veteran's hometown. The goal of the program is for every Veteran to have at least one wish granted and each Veteran is eligible for a maximum of 3 wishes.

The Program is funded through the generosity of many donors and community sponsors. Your contributions enable veterans to realize their hopes and dreams. To make a donation or for further questions, please contact Leanne Hughes, recreation therapist at 416-480-5490.
