Refer a patient

Referring physicians can refer to any generalists for low risk pregnancies. For high-risk pregnancies, a referral form is required.

Why refer to Sunnybrook?

Sunnybrook's DAN Women & Babies program offers expert, personalized care for women and their families before, during and after pregnancy. Each year we deliver approximately 4,000 babies, one quarter of which are high-risk deliveries and require specialized care for mother and baby.

Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) cares for 20 percent of all infants in the province weighing less than three pounds.

Special notice for non-residents seeking obstetrical care at Sunnybrook »

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is concerned about services that claim to help non-residents of Canada access obstetrical care at our hospital.

Travelling to Canada for the sole purpose of giving birth is called medical tourism. Sunnybrook does not accept medical tourists who travel to give birth here.

Our primary duty is to provide care to residents of Ontario. Ontario residents should speak with their family doctor about obtaining a referral to our hospital.

Sunnybrook does not have any affiliation with ‘medical concierge service providers.’ We do not work or partner with these companies.
