Family support
How family members can help make admission as useful as possible:
» Talk to members of the team regularly about any concerns and observations you have about your son/daughter/family member
- You can be a valuable source of information for us and can help us better understand your son/daughter/family member
- We can provide you with support in what can be a very stressful and upsetting time for the family overall
- Please contact us at 416-480-6100 ext. 67532
» Have questions? Please ask the members of our team
- We can help explain what we think is going on by reviewing and explaining the treatment plan with you
- We can provide education about specific psychiatric conditions and their treatments
- We can provide information about other community resources and support that may be helpful for you
» Attend all scheduled family meetings
- Family meetings are extremely important for a number of reasons:
- They allow us to find out from you important information about your son/daughter/family member
- They allow us to address important problems and issues so that your son/daughter/family member can improve
- They allow us to develop treatment plans with your input and that of your son/daughter/family member
» Take your son/daughter/family member on passes as requested by our team
- Passes are an important part of the treatment plan and help your son/daughter/family member prepare for discharge from hospital
