Thursday, August 3, 2023 Recognizing Emancipation Day at Sunnybrook
August 1 was Emancipation Day. It marks the day the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect in 1834, and was first recognized in Canada in 2021. This is the first year Sunnybrook marked the national day with events at three campuses this week, organized by the President’s Anti-Racism Taskforce.

Season Two of the Sunnybrook Centre for Injury Prevention podcast called ‘Injury is Not Equal’ is nearing its final episode. The Injury is Not Equal podcast explores the relationship between identity factors, systemic structures and health outcomes. We know that race, ethnicity, economic status, gender identity, age and sex are deeply intertwined in health outcomes, and the podcast aims to take a closer look at this issue.
