Dr. Laurence Klotz receives Dean's Lifetime Achievement Award from U of T

Congratulations to Dr. Laurence Klotz, who has received the Dean’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine.

The Dean’s Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes alumni whose outstanding career achievements have earned them national or international prominence. 

These contributions can encompass leadership, research, teaching, clinical care, administration or public service. The recipient will have demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and serves as a role model for current and future health care professionals.

Dr. Klotz is a urological oncologist and researcher at Sunnybrook, and a professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He completed both his undergraduate degree and medical training at University of Toronto.

Dr. Klotz was named to the Order of Canada in 2014 for “his contributions to the treatment of prostate cancer, notably for leading the adoption of Active Surveillance as a standard aspect of patient care". Active Surveillance is the close monitoring of men with low-risk prostate cancer over time.
