New Chief, Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kenneth Eng as the new Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Eng obtained his MD from the University of Toronto, following which he completed residency training in Ophthalmology and a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Toronto. Dr. Eng holds certification in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Eng began his career with Sunnybrook in 2007 as staff in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences. He has many years of administrative and leadership experience within the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto that includes serving as Director of Undergraduate Medical Education; Chair of the Appointments Committee; Chair of the Practice Plan Committee; member of the Executive Committee; and the Education Lead, Retina Service.
Dr. Eng is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, University of Toronto. Dr. Eng has been the recipient of several teaching awards, with the most recent award in 2019, Golden Suture Award for best non-cataract resident surgical teaching, University of Toronto.
Dr. Eng will begin his role on March 1, 2021. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Eng on his appointment and thanking Dr. Peter Kertes for his hard work and dedicated service to this role. We wish them both continued success.
