Sunnybrook nurses: thank you

May 12, 2014

Nursing week is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the significant contribution and impact nurses are making in the lives of individuals, their families and the health care system. This year’s national theme is “Nursing: A Leading Force for Change”.

At Sunnybrook, we have more than 2,900 nurses dedicated to excellence in care, research and education. Our nurses are passionate and demonstrate the highest degree of competence and exemplary performance. They embrace the true essence of person-centred care, nurturing important relationships with patients and their families, seven days a week, 24-hours a day, along the continuum of care, from birth to end of life.

Sunnybrook nurses are recognized as skilled, knowledgeable leaders who are transforming health care systems. They deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. They are developing and implementing innovative roles that further enhance quality care and services for patients and their families. In addition to direct clinical roles, our nurses fulfill leadership roles such as Advanced Practice Nurses, Educators, Patient Care Managers, Researchers, Policy Makers, and Senior Executives.

Sunnybrook nurses have been recognized locally, provincially, and nationally for their leadership in the development and sharing of new knowledge with students, team members, patients, families, and communities. Many nurses fulfill preceptor roles where they demonstrate ongoing commitment to the education of our next generation of health care providers.

In our rapidly changing health care environment, we are inspired by the commitment of our nurses to lead in innovation, adopt new and evolving practices, and provide meaningful individualized care when it matters most.

Thank you for your dedication and contributions,
