Canadian Veteran records album of love songs for his wife before her passing
Morris and Ruth Adams were residing in a Toronto-area senior’s apartment building when they contracted COVID-19 in December 2020. Both were taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for care. With the help of their daughter Carolyn Adams-Lewis, Morris eventually moved into the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre after recovering and Ruth was admitted onto Sunnybrook’s Palliative Care Unit.
Though visiting limitations initially kept them apart, the caring efforts of many Sunnybrook staff, including music therapists Teresa Ianni and Jill Hedican, allowed Morris and Ruth to connect through music.
Morris was assisted in recording a CD and having virtual visits where he sang songs to Ruth, including the ones she used to sing to him.
In time, Morris was able to visit and sing to Ruth in person before she passed away in June, just after their 71st wedding anniversary.
