Dr. Harindra Wijesyundera appointed Provincial Physician Lead for Cardiac Care

Congratulations to Dr. Harindra Wijeysundera, who was appointed the inaugural Ontario-Health, CorHealth Provincial Physician Lead for Cardiac Care.

As a provincial physician lead, Dr. Wijeysundera will provide leadership for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of cardiac care across the continuum.

“I am very excited to take on this new role,” says Dr. Wijeysundera. “It is a wonderful opportunity to work with colleagues at CorHealth, the Ministry of Health as well as the cardiac community on developing innovative approaches to provide high quality, efficient cardiac care in this post-pandemic world.”

Dr. Wijeysundera is the Chief of the Schulich Heart Program, and Head of the Division of Cardiology, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is also an interventional cardiologist and a senior scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute as well as an adjunct senior scientist at ICES. He is a professor in the Department of Medicine and the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto.
