Sunnybrook Veteran recalls great moments in hockey
Sunnybrook Veteran, Canadian actor and Hockey Night in Canada (HNIC) legend Murray Westgate, 93, returns to TV this Saturday night in honour of the 60th Anniversary of HNIC. Tune in to CBC at 6:30 PM on Saturday, December 3 for Westgate’s interview on the Leafs pre-game show and HNIC special.
Westgate’s face became synonymous with Hockey Night in Canada in 1952, when TV was introduced and he landed the role of Imperial Oil’s friendly gas station dealer and original pitchman, a regular feature during game intermissions. View a short clip of Westgate and vote for him in this week’s, “It Happened on Hockey Night in Canada” challenge.
