Congratulations to Dr. Beverley Orser

Congratulations to Dr. Beverley Orser who has received the 2020 Canadian College of Neuropsychopharmacology Medal.

The CCNP award recognizes the “outstanding contributions by a single individual in the field of research in neuropsychopharmacology in Canada” and honours individuals for a “meritorious career in, and outstanding contribution to, neuropsychopharmacology in Canada as evidenced by their activities in education, administration and/or patient care.” It also recognizes evidence of novel initiatives.

Dr. Orser is a staff anesthesiologist in the Department of Anesthesia at Sunnybrook, the co-founder of the Perioperative Brain Health Centre and the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, University of Toronto.

Her team is investigating changes in the brain after anesthesia and surgery, and safe ways of preventing delirium in patients. Dr. Orser is also a passionate advocate of patient safety.
