Award will help researcher study symptom burden in patients with head and neck cancer
Congratulations to Dr. Antoine Eskander, who has received a New Investigator Award from the Terry Fox Research Institute and CIHR.
Dr. Eskander's research will explore how symptoms related to treatments affect the lives of patients with head and neck cancers.
“This research project will look at how cancer and treatment-related symptoms affect everything from survival to the cost of care to unplanned hospital visits for these patients,” says Dr. Eskander.
He will also receive mentorship from Sunnybrook surgical oncologist and researcher Dr. Natalie Coburn, who leads a CIHR-project that is evaluating survival, patient-reported outcomes and costs for advanced gastrointestinal cancers.
