Congratulations Dr. Dennis Ko!

Congratulations to Dr. Dennis Ko, research director of the Schulich Heart Research Program, on his appointment as Vice Chair of the Institute Advisory Board, CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (CIHR-ICRH).

CIHR-ICRH is one of 13 virtual Institutes, each with specific focus, that make up the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). CIHR-ICRH supports a wide range of research communities that address the causes, mechanisms, prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, support systems, and palliation for a wide range of conditions associated with the heart, lung, brain (stroke), blood, blood vessels, critical care and sleep. Together, these conditions account for the highest number of deaths, hospitalizations, need for critical care, emergency department visits and comorbid conditions in Canada.

As Vice Chair of the CIHR-ICRH, Dr. Ko will provide support and guidance to the Scientific Director in aligning Institute activities with the Institute's goals of supporting outstanding research, enhancing research capacity, building national and international partnerships, and advancing circulatory and respiratory health in Canada and around the world.
