Sunnybrook and MOLLI Surgical receive CAN Health Network Award
Sunnybrook, in partnership with MOLLI Surgical, has been named this year’s CAN Health Network Award recipient. The award is CAN Health Network’s highest honour and recognizes organizations that demonstrate the power of collaboration to advance Canadian healthcare and scale innovation.
The award comes after Sunnybrook and MOLLI Surgical saw impactful results from their project to improve breast cancer surgery for patients and health care providers, using MOLLI’s wire-free and radiation-free technology. The technology was first developed at Sunnybrook by breast cancer surgeon Dr. Nicole Look Hong and medical physicist Dr. Ananth Ravi, before being commercialized by spin-off company MOLLI Surgical. In 2022, it was named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2022.
16 Bit, another company partnering with Sunnybrook through CAN Health, was the recipient of the 2023 Impact Award, which recognizes a CAN Health Network member that has made a significant contribution to Canada’s health care industry. 16 Bit’s AI-driven tool, Rho™, has enabled Sunnybrook to screen over 1000 patients for early risk of osteoporosis.
CAN Health Network is made up of more than 30 hospitals and healthcare organizations across the country, and in partnership with the Federal Government, works to build innovative solutions and improve healthcare for all Canadians. Sunnybrook is proud to collaborate with CAN Health and its partnering organizations as we work to invent the future of healthcare.
