Chemotherapy with short-course radiation helps elderly patients with glioblastoma live longer: NEJM study

A Canadian-led randomized phase III trial found that adding temozolomide chemotherapy during short-course radiation therapy significantly improved survival of elderly patients with glioblastoma (primary brain tumour).

The study, led by the Cancer Clinical Trials Group in Kingston, Ont., was published today in the New England Journal of Medicine. Sunnybrook's Dr. James Perry was co-first author and Dr. Arjun Sahgal was a co-author.
