Breast Cancer

Survivorship Issues

Once all of your treatment for breast cancer has been completed, you will probably experience "mixed feelings". You may feel relief that you have completed all of your treatments and you will no longer have to struggle with the acute side effects of treatment. You may also feel stronger, both physically and emotionally and proud of your body's ability to handle the treatments. But, there will also be fears and anxieties related to the end of treatment such as fear of the cancer coming back and fear that you can no longer be the person you were before your diagnosis. Many people feel "changed" from the experience of cancer and struggle with how to incorporate their experience into their former lives. If you are struggling emotionally once your treatments are completed, talk to your healthcare provider about support services that are available to you at the Odette Cancer Centre and in your community.
