Hip Fracture
When to call the Doctor:
Call the doctor’s office if you have any of the following symptoms:
- fever (more than 38.5C or 102.3F)
- fluid or blood from the incision (more than one teaspoon)
- increasing redness, swelling or pain at the incision site
Go to the closest emergency department if:
- you have shortness of breath or chest pain within the first few says after returning home, OR
- the pain in your hip suddenly gets a lot worse and you cannot put weight on your leg.
