Chronic Low Back Pain:
In a minority of patients acute episodes of pain may persist for more than 3 months. Despite the low incidence, it is this population that accounts for 85 percent of the costs in terms of loss of work due to low back pain disability. Once a patient is in the chronic phase, a multidisciplinary approach is most often required for functional restoration. Your surgeon may refer you to a pain clinic for this treatment.
