Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation or Coagulation

What care do my incision sites need?

  • Keep your incisions clean and dry.  Do not apply perfumed lotions or talcum powder to any incision.
  • Wear clothes that are loose fitting or non-irritating to the incisions.
  • It is common for the incision on your belly button to leak a small amount of watery, pink-coloured fluid after the operation.  This may last for 2-3 days.
  • Dissolvable sutures (thread) are used and do not have to be removed.
  • You may have white strips (steristrips) over the incisions.  If  still on 7 days after the surgery, remove in a downward motion. There is no need to apply Bandaids®.
