What you need to know: opening of the new Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre
On January 20, 2025, the doors to the new Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre, located at our Bayview campus, will be open and most Hurvitz Brain Sciences program clinical care will transition to the new building.
A vital part of Sunnybrook’s vision to invent the future of health care, the new Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre is the first of its kind in Canada for patient care and interdisciplinary research, with a focus on treating mental and physical health as one. It unites Sunnybrook experts under one roof to increase collaboration and discovery, as well as enhance the patient experience with streamlined care for complex brain conditions. The Hurvitz Centre will revolutionize approaches to the most complex brain disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders, stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, ALS and more.
What you need to know
Outpatient clinics are relocating over a staggered, two-week period. This means you might have an appointment in the Yuval and Lori Barzakay Brain Health Clinic, located in the new Hurvitz Centre, or your next appointment may be in the location where you have already been receiving care.
Inpatients will be relocated to the Hurvitz Centre ahead of the first day of outpatient appointments.
How will I know where my outpatient appointment is?
Your clinical team will let you know the location of your next appointment by email or by telephone. If you are receiving email reminders, you will receive two. Both emails will have information about the location of the Hurvitz Centre, called G-Wing, and parking information. You can reach the outpatient clinics by calling 416-480-4226.
You may want to leave extra time to arrive for your appointment so you can find your way.
