On July 30, the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre was the scene of the inaugural 100+ Club celebration, honouring residents aged 100 and older, including one resident who is a remarkable 107 years old.

56 Veterans celebrated this incredible milestone and were joined by their families and guests, marking the achievement of becoming centenarians, and celebrating their lifelong service and contributions as some of Canada’s oldest living Veterans.

Each Veteran received a custom-designed 100+ Club vest, a visible tribute to their extraordinary lives. Master of ceremonies Richard Ratcliffe explained the idea in his opening remarks. “We wanted to find a meaningful way to honour their remarkable lives and service, so we created the 100+ Club and introduced a custom-designed vest to mark this special milestone.”

Veteran Brenda Reid, who is turning 101 this year, shared her delight. “The vests are very fun and we are all proud of our jackets.”

Dr. Andy Smith, President & CEO of Sunnybrook, joined the festivities and brought greetings from Team Sunnybrook. “This is a celebration of long lives, lived with courage, purpose, and service,” he said. “On behalf of myself and all of Sunnybrook, congratulations to each of you. Thank you for the legacies you’ve created, the lives you’ve touched, and the example you continue to set for us all.”
