Veterans Program spotlight: Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) at the Veterans Centre evaluate swallowing abilities and create individualized plans to promote safe and enjoyable eating and drinking. SLPs also provide communication assessments and can facilitate various treatments for our residents and patients with speech, language and voice impairments.
During the pandemic, SLPs have had an essential role in promoting health and safety, ensuring the needs of our residents and patients are being communicated, and providing education and counselling for families regarding their loved ones’ swallowing and communication abilities.
