Chemotherapy drug update

April 3, 2013

Cancer Care Ontario recently announced that patients at four Ontario hospitals had received lower than intended doses of two chemotherapy drugs, cyclophosphamide and gemcitabine, which had been purchased from a drug manufacturer.

Sunnybrook is not one of the hospitals whose patients were affected. We do not purchase products from the drug manufacturer in question, and there is no risk to our patients. We have confirmed that our chemotherapy drugs are properly labeled, and that they are in the correct concentration.
