Ross Tilley Burn Centre re-verified
Sunnybrook’s Ross Tilley Burn Centre recently received re-verification from the prestigious American Burn Association (ABA). The Burn Centre was initially verified in 2012, and was the first centre in Canada to receive this distinction. It is also one of only three centres outside the United States to be ABA verified.
“It is a great honour to be recognized in this way by the American Burn Association,” says Dr. Marc Jeschke, Director of the centre. “ABA verification is a rigorous process, and we could not have done this without the passion and dedication of the entire team.”
Sunnybrook’s Burn Centre is a significant and leading resource for the health care system and each year cares for the majority of major burn victims in Ontario. The research and teaching it conducts is world-renowned and is seen as the national standard for burn care in Canada.
Upon re-verification, the ABA commended Ross Tilley Burn Centre for its teamwork, commitment to excellence and its commitment to providing quality burn care to its patients.
When the burn centre joined Sunnybrook, it was a natural fit given the hospital’s standing as the country’s first and largest trauma centre. Since that time, the centre’s contributions to traumatic burn and critical care, both in research and clinical activity, have been invaluable.
