Dr. Christine Hawkes received her medical degree and her Adult Neurology residency training from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Dr. Hawkes then went on to complete a clinical fellowship in Stroke/Vascular Neurology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC), in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She then completed a two-year clinical fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology/Neurovascular Intervention at McMaster University. As a clinician teacher, Dr. Hawkes aims to engage neurology residents in the endovascular care of patients with cerebrovascular diseases and develop an integrated neurovascular rotation for residents and fellows.
Dr. Hawkes’ expertise includes the medical and endovascular treatment of patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. Her clinical interests include: endovascular treatment of stroke, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), dural arteriovenous fistulae (DAVFs), pulsatile tinnitus, and carotid stenosis.
