Dr. Tile is retired from clinical practice. He has extensive experience with knee and hip reconstruction, and trauma, especially in the pelvis. He is the senior editor of a two 4th edition volume text on 'Fractures of the Pelvis and Acetabulum’ Thieme, 2015.
He is the former chief of surgery at Sunnybrook, a past president of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (a major international research society for low back pain study), the AO Foundation in Switzerland and the Canadian Orthopaedic Association. He is also the founding president of the Ontario Orthopaedic Association. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 2008.
Dr. Tile is a professor emeritus at the University of Toronto and joined the staff in 1966.
