Dr. Elaine Yong graduated from Queen's University medical school and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto. She further specialized with a fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, followed by advanced training in endoscopic ultrasonography at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
She joined the Division of Gastroenterology as a Clinician-Teacher after completing the Master Teacher Program. Currently, she is a full-time staff physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where her clinical expertise includes pancreatobiliary disease, endoscopic oncology, therapeutic endoscopy, and endoscopic ultrasound. Her research focuses on endoscopic oncology and medical education in endoscopy.
Dr. Yong is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and currently serves as the Division Head of Gastroenterology and Medical Director of Endoscopy at Sunnybrook.
