Dr. Nicolas Bowers is a structural interventional cardiologist who specializes in minimally invasive and transcatheter cardiac interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement and implantation (TAVI), mitral and tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER using MitraClip, TriClip, and Pascal), transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve replacement (TMVR and TTVR), percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV), closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD), paravalvular leak closure, and left atrial appendage occlusion (Watchman implantation). Research and academic interests of Dr. Bowers include clinical trials in structural heart interventions and percutaneous coronary interventions, as well as education and training in structural interventional cardiology.

Dr. Bowers completed medical school and residencies in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Toronto. He then completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in percutaneous coronary interventions and structural heart interventions (TAVI, Mitral, and Tricuspid interventions). Dr. Bowers then pursued an advanced fellowship in complex structural heart interventions at Columbia University Medical Center (New York, USA), and a Master’s in Clinical Trials through the University of Oxford (Oxford, UK).
