About us

The Toronto Regional Arthroplasty Collaborative is a partnership between Sunnybrook’s Holland Centre and Michael Garron Hospital.

The Toronto Regional Arthroplasty Collaborative is supported by Ontario Health.

Sunnybrook

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inventing the future of health care for the 1.3 million patients the hospital cares for each year through the dedication of its more than 10,000 staff and volunteers. Sunnybrook has established itself across three campuses and is home to Canada’s largest trauma centre.

An internationally recognized leader in research and education and a full affiliation with the University of Toronto distinguishes Sunnybrook as one of Canada’s premier academic health sciences centres.

Sunnybrook’s Holland Centre (its campus located in downtown Toronto on Wellesley Street) is the stand-alone hospital surgical site for the Toronto Regional Arthroplasty Collaborative. The Holland Centre site has been dedicated to orthopaedic surgery and care for almost six decades at its current location.

As an established Centre of Excellence for hip and knee arthroplasty surgery, the Holland Centre is a North American leader in bone and joint care, education and research, performing an annual volume of more than 2,200 hip and knee replacement procedures (before TRAC was implemented).

Starting April 1, 2023, the Holland Centre will expand its Operating Room (OR) capacities to weekends, when it will begin to provide pre-scheduled access to orthopaedic surgeons from MGH and potentially other hospitals in the future. The overall number of hip and knee replacement procedures performed at the Holland Centre is expected to increase by 25 per cent in one-year’s time.

Michael Garron Hospital

Nestled in the heart of East Toronto, Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network, is a vibrant community teaching hospital serving one of Canada’s most diverse communities.

For more than 90 years, we have delivered high-quality, patient-centred healthcare services to nearly 400,000 people in our catchment area and beyond. This includes 22 distinct neighbourhoods from Midland Avenue in the east to Bayview Avenue in the west and north from Lake Ontario to Eglinton Avenue.

From welcoming a new life to facing the end-of-life, the hospital has continually renewed its commitment to the East Toronto community by adapting its programs and services to meet the evolving needs of the diverse population it serves.

We are proud of our strong community, clinical, research and academic partnerships, including the University of Toronto, Sunnybrook Health Sciences, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Centennial College, George Brown College, Michener Institute, Ryerson University and York University.
