About our program
As the population ages, the number of Canadians living with brain-related conditions in the community and in residential care settings is increasing. The Hurvitz Brain Sciences program expands upon our understanding and management of these disorders of the brain and mind. Our program brings together teams within medicine as well as interdisciplinary health professionals in clinical care, research and teaching.Providing comprehensive care across the continuum — from prevention, acute intervention, long-term management, outreach and linkages to community providers — our program's three major themes are among the greatest public health challenges of the coming generation:
- Stroke
- Dementias (such as Alzheimer's disease)
- Mood and anxiety disorders (such as depression and bipolar disorder)
