Endoscopy

The Endoscopy and Medical Outpatient Procedures (MOP) Clinic supports diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services to outpatients and inpatients at Sunnybrook.

The teams comprises of endoscopists from Gastroenterology, Respirology, and General Surgery, as well as a Specialized Multidisciplinary Endoscopy Care Team. Anesthesiologists may also be part of your Endoscopy care team.

Your visit will begin in the Medical Outpatient Procedures area where a nurse will assess and prepare you for the procedure. You will also return to this area after the procedure to monitor you before you get discharged to go home.

Procedures performed in the Endoscopy Clinic:

  • Gastroscopy
  • Colonoscopy & Sigmoidoscopy
  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Capsule Endoscopy

Procedural sedation and ride home:

  • You will be given medications to make you comfortable during the procedure.
  • Because these medications may make you sleepy, an escort and ride is required for discharge.
