Current studies

INSYTE Study

The INSYTE Study is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research that will help us to understand the supports needed by transitional-aged youth (TAY) with mental health and/or addiction concerns and their families. Findings from this study will show how navigation can support TAY and families, and provide guidance on transformation of the MHA system to improve access to support leading up to, during, and after care transitions.

Youth Engagement in Navigation

This study, funded by the Ontario Brain Institute GEEK Program and Slaight Family Foundation, will help us implement and evaluate the Family Navigation Project’s first Youth Engagement Strategy. We will be conducting outreach and evaluating the youth-centeredness and youth-friendliness of the Family Navigation Project model to understand the impact of youth engagement in navigation.

Provincial COVID-19 survey

We have conducted a provincial survey in July-August 2020 among adults 18 years and older to understand the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health and/or addiction concerns and an individual’s life (work, education, life events etc.). We are also exploring the mental health and/or addiction service needs before and during the pandemic, including the types of services needed (one on one counselling, support groups etc.), and the formats (videoconference, online chat etc.). The findings from this study will help inform service providers and health care decision makers about the mental health and/or addiction services needed during the pandemic.
