Injury is NOT Equal

Injury is NOT Equal is an awareness campaign and podcast.

Campaign

We know that some groups are disproportionately impacted by injury more than others!

The campaign aims to spread awareness on the various health inequities in which the outcome is injury and sometimes death. Highlighting the intersection between location, social economic status (SES), identity, gender and much more. The campaign is informed by the social determinants of health, relevant data and reinforced by continued inequities expressed and experienced by our diverse community that we serve.

Podcast

No one enjoys being injured, especially when it could be prevented! No, we are not talking about the bump on the knee or the scratch on the elbow. We mean traumatic injuries that are severe, life altering and sometimes fatal! Preventable traumatic injury impacts communities and individuals differently and is influenced for example by: systemic racism, sexism and elements that fall under the social determinants of health.

Injury can be a sensitive topic as it accounts for 16,000 deaths, 232,000 hospitalizations, and 60,000 disabilities each year. Nothing is off limits, as the podcast aims to uncover truths and realities about the impact of injury, share real lived experiences and understand inequity in injury and injury prevention.
