About orthopaedic trauma

Traumatic injuries account for a majority of productive life years lost. Optimizing fracture treatment and finding better methods for treating soft tissue injuries is a key focus of our Holland Bone and Joint program.

Established in 1976, we were the first of our kind in Canada. We continue to provide trauma leadership treating high volumes of:

  • Pelvic/acetabular trauma
  • Hip fractures
  • Spine trauma
  • Upper extremity trauma
  • Lower extremity trauma

We are the largest of only a few centres in Canada with expertise to manage complex high energy pelvic and acetabular fractures, with virtually all operative cases of pelvic fracture being transferred to this centre for definitive management. We have extensive expertise in pelvic and acetabular fragility fractures and pathological fractures due to bone metastases that require complex reconstructive procedures.

We focus on the management of tertiary and quaternary complex musculoskeletal injuries to the spine, pelvis and acetabulum and periarticular areas, as well as patients with multiple injuries.
