Social work and Counselling
Our social workers provide counselling and support for patients of the Family Health Team. Patients can be referred by their Family Physician or Registered Nurse for counselling for a variety of issues. Some of these issues include, but are not limited to struggles with anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, stress management, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, caregiver burnout for those caring for loved ones with mental or physical needs, life stage transitions, infertility and pregnancy loss, sleep difficulties, and interpersonal and communication challenges.
Our social workers can also be involved in finding appropriate referrals and resources for patients. For example, some people may be seeking specific types of treatments or interventions for themselves or a loved one, or wanting support groups or reading material about the issue they are struggling with.
Our social workers are Faina Stoliar Ben-David, MA, MSW, RSW and Karin Pereira, MSW, RSW.
