Two new units at Sunnybrook to create inpatient capacity
Today marks the opening of two new units created to build Sunnybrook’s inpatient capacity as we navigate the global COVID-19 pandemic.
As Sunnybrook continues to maintain space for any potential surge in COVID-19 patients, it’s important that we create capacity for patients who need a hospital stay after scheduled procedures and surgeries. These two new units — a 32-bed general medicine unit and a 20-bed unit dedicated to complex malignant hematology and hematology patients — will help Sunnybrook provide care to more patients when it matters most.
The units both underwent renovations over the past few weeks, and will begin to welcome patients today. Thank you to the teams involved in making this happen in a short time in an already unprecedented year.
