Sneak preview of Under Fire: Journalists in Combat
Under Fire: Journalists in Combat, the documentary produced by Sunnybrook psychiatrist Dr. Anthony Feinstein, will be shown for a limited time sneak preview next week in Toronto.
The film, which has been shortlisted for a 2012 Academy Award nomination, will be shown on December 19, 20 and 21 at 7pm at the Revue Cinema on Roncesvalles. The filmmakers will be available for a Q&A session at the December 19 screening.
Martyn Burke, the writer and director who has made documentaries about wars, and Dr. Feinstein, the psychiatrist who has been virtually on-call to CNN and other major news outfits, delve into the experiences of major journalists from the New York Times, AP, Times of London, BBC, the LA Times, and others, to bring a deeper understanding of the psychological cost of covering war.
Under Fire weaves together combat footage and first-hand accounts by journalists who reveal what they saw, thought and felt as they confronted both the savagery of war and the insatiable 24-hour news cycle.
