Sunnybrook-led projects awarded funding through Ontario Research Fund
The Government of Ontario recently announced an investment of over $92 million in research projects at universities, colleges, research institutes and research hospitals across the province, including more than $13 million in funding to support Sunnybrook-led projects over the previous five years. The funding, delivered through the Ontario Research Fund, supports ground-breaking research that will advance knowledge, drive innovation and create a better future for the people of Ontario.
To mark this announcement, Minister Quinn recently visited Sunnybrook to see the future site of Toronto’s 7T MRI, one of the projects that will receive funding. This powerful, state-of-the-art scanner will produce images in unprecedented detail and enable researchers to see parts of the brain never seen before. It will play a crucial role in transforming research and the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system for researchers across the city.
“When we invest in research, we invest in our province’s future,” said Nolan Quinn, Minister of Colleges and Universities. "These critical investments will ensure Ontario’s researchers can continue making discoveries that drive key sectors, create good-paying jobs, and improve the lives of all Ontarians.”
