Stewardship Officer - Donor Relations & Communications - Full-time (Stewardship Officer)

We currently have a Full Time opportunity for a Stewardship Officer in the Donor Relations & Communications at Sunnybrook.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inventing the future of health care with a focus on trauma, cardiac, stroke, high-risk pregnancy, newborns and cancer. Sunnybrook Foundation exists to raise awareness and funds required to ensure that Sunnybrook achieves its mission.

The Donor Relations & Communications department provides services and experiences that deepen donor engagement with Sunnybrook. Reporting to the Manager, Stewardship the Stewardship Officer will develop strategic and personalized stewardship and recognition opportunities for a group of donors, collaborating with members of the Advancement, Community Engagement, Donor Relations & Communications and Knowledge & Systems teams. Working alongside other members of the Stewardship team, the Stewardship Officer will lead in the development and execution of donor experiences, prepare written donor communications that demonstrate the impact of donor support and manage the foundation’s naming opportunities inventory and recognition signage process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understand the Sunnybrook brand, the strategic direction of the foundation and hospital priorities
  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization and all projects and programs funded by the foundation
  • Remain abreast of best practices in the field with respect to donor engagement, recognition and stewardship
  • Research, compile and write a range of donor communications materials including letters, recognition event collateral and hospital updates
  • Manage naming opportunities inventory, and the design and installation of donor signage for a portfolio of donors
  • Provide recognition opportunities for the development of proposals
  • Write personal appreciation and stewardship letters for leadership donors and volunteers
  • Work closely with the advancement team to develop donor acknowledgment, recognition and stewardship strategies, and deliver customized materials to both donors and prospective donors, as required
  • Lead the development and execution of donor-focused events and virtual engagement opportunities
  • Coordinate the creation and delivery of stewardship reports including sourcing photography and working in InDesign for layout
  • Attend events as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience
  • Minimum of three to five years professional experience in a fundraising organization with exposure to donor stewardship and recognition best practices
  • Customer service experience in a professional environment
  • Prior experience working in a staff capacity with donors, volunteers and executives
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong strategic planning and critical thinking skills
  • Good decision-making skills, tactful, good listener, willingness to search out answers, ability to recognize when others need to be involved in activities or decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and maintain professionalism
  • Project a positive, neat and professional appearance
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office and working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge
  • Proficiency or working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) an asset
