Through unique matching gift and awareness campaigns, Sunnybrook’s community has rallied together to support the new Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre.

Anticipation is building as a new home for brain and mental health care is taking shape at Sunnybrook’s Bayview campus.

Construction is progressing well at Sunnybrook’s new Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre, which will serve patients with a range of common and challenging brain and mental health disorders. Research will also be embedded into care, uniting experts across disciplines to advance urgently needed discoveries in brain and mental health.

Since the earliest days when the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre was a bold idea, to more recent progress on its construction, our generous donors have raised more than $78 million to date to support Sunnybrook’s vision for the Centre.

As we approach our fundraising goal, our community has continued to rally together with an extra push, responding to several new initiatives aimed at raising awareness and expanding our base of support for the Centre.

This past year, friends of Sunnybrook have made it possible for donors to double their impact through an ambitious matching campaign for the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre.

Thanks to the remarkable commitment of the Dellelce, Holland and Murphy Families, major gifts are being matched up to a total of $10 million. Our outstanding volunteers have enabled us to accelerate this opportunity, inspiring donors to partner with Sunnybrook as we work toward our shared vision to invent the future of health care.

Meanwhile, an emotional multimedia campaign garnered awareness, hope and support for the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre, as it powerfully demonstrated how the new Centre will be there “For Everyone with a Brain.” Inspired by the range of brain and mental health disorders that will be investigated and treated at the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre, hundreds of community donors have stepped up to support as part of a series of email campaigns.

Sunnybrook is inventing the future of brain health for everyone with a brain.

Each and every donor to Sunnybrook makes a difference. With the help of donor support, the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre will soon deliver unparalleled brain and mental health care to our community. Its impact will also extend beyond our local area as our research influences the understanding and treatment of brain disorders on an international scale.
