Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Introduction

Flexible sigmoidoscopy is similar to a colonoscopy except the whole colon is not examined.  With flexible sigmoidoscopy, the rectum and lower colon are examined with a flexible sigmoidoscope.  No sedation is required and bowel preparation is not as extensive as in a colonoscopy.
