Luncheon honours veterans of the Korean War

Korea War Veterans at Sunnybrook recently gathered for a luncheon and special event held in their honour. Currently, there are twenty-one Veterans living at the Veterans Centre, who volunteered to serve in the Canadian Army Special Forces from 1950-1953. Attending the luncheon was Mr. Jeong-sik Kang, Consul General of Korea; Mr. Charles Kim, President of the Korean Veterans Association of Canada ; Mr. Terry Wickens, National President of the Korea Veterans Association; Dr. Barry McLellan, President & CEO of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre; Rhonda Galbraith, Operations Director, Sunnybrook Veterans Centre and members of the Korea Veterans Association, Unit 71 (Lindsay, ON).

Traditional Korean music was provided by the Korean Canadian Christian Women’s Association and Korean Canadian Women’s Choir. After the formal speeches, an official medal ceremony was held, and four Sunnybrook veterans were presented with the Ambassador For Peace Medal from the Consul General. This annual luncheon event has been a Sunnybrook tradition since 1997.
