New Melanoma Rapid Assessment Clinic

To improve access, the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook is launching a new clinic in mid-May - the first of its kind in Canada - that will provide expedited assessment to patients highly suspicious for melanoma.

At the Melanoma Rapid Assessment Clinic, a dermatologist and a surgeon will assess patients. If warranted, patients will get a same-day biopsy. Recognizing the time lags that can occur as patients are sent to various specialists, Sunnybrook is launching this new, one-stop service, making it easier for patients and their family physicians to navigate and obtain timely care. [If the biopsy is negative for melanoma, the patient's care will be returned to the referring MD or the appropriate specialist.] 

Initial clinic dates at Odette Cancer Centre are May 13 and May 27.
