Family physicians receive research funding

The Sunnybrook Education Advisory Council (SEAC) and the Education Research Unit (ERU) recently announced the recipients of the 2017 Grant program. This year, the call for proposals was highly competitive, with 7 proposals being submitted for consideration. After a rigorous review and selection process, 5 of the research teams were successful and will be awarded funding to support their research endeavours. All teams are exploring a variety of innovative education-based research questions that have the possibility to have a tremendous impact on the care Sunnybrook provides our patients and their families through teaching and learning research.

Two of the teams include physicians from the Sunnybrook Academic Family Health Team:

  • Karen Fleming, Anne Wideman, Emilie Boucher, and Daphna Steinberg: "Developing an Effective Maternity Care eModule for Family Medicine Residents"
  • Jeremy Rezmovitz, Anne Wideman, Elizabeth Wooster, Rishie Seth, Jessica Bytautas, Juha Pekkanen, Hartley Jafine, Stacey Ritz, and Susan Glover-Takahashi: "Is it Time to Get Serious about Play? How does medical improvisation influence the development of CanMEDS-FM competencies in family medicine residents? A pilot curriculum"
