Louise MacIsaac retires after 42 years

December 19, 2014

After 42 years as a primary care nurse in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Sunnybrook, Louise MacIsaac has decided to retire at the end of December. We of course wish her well in this new stage of her life, but we are so very disappointed to see her go. For many years, Louise worked with the founder of our academic unit, Dr. Doug Johnson and practised in the same quite professional manner as he did.

Louise has not only provided exemplary nursing care, but has been intimately involved in the training of several thousand family medicine residents, nursing and medical students.

To honour Louise’s contribution, we have established the Louise MacIsaac Family Practice Nursing Scholarship Fund through the Sunnybrook Foundation. This will provide nurses in the unit with funding support to continue or enhance their continuing education. Examples would include pursuit of a postgraduate degree or working towards becoming a nurse practitioner. Please take a moment to consider making a tax-deductible donation by donating online at Sunnybrook.ca/Louise. You will receive a receipt for income tax purposes from the Sunnybrook Foundation.
